After years of applying and being rejected for an American Express (AE) card, I finally received a letter saying I was preapproved. I was skeptical because I had some late payments a few years before, but everything to date was current with the exception of my mortgage. AE sent me their card and I was so happy---*** me to be that shallow. I used the card, paid it off monthly and thought everything was fine. I had applied for a mortgage modification which was pending and during that time the bank would not accept any payment that was not in full. Still, all other accounts were paid timely and AE was alway paid in advance and in full. Then after six months I receive this letter telling me that I wasn't the type of person who AE did business with because of my low credit score (AGAIN DUE TO THE MORTGAGE loss mitigation process)". I though of all those years (I'm 58 and this started when I was 21) I had applied, was rejected, and then out of the clear blue they send me a card/. And now, I am not good enough for them?. Well, too bad for them,. Some decent people pay their bills and when they have a rough spot, they work through them,. It's a shame AE has so little faith in the American person|. Their company was built on the backs of us small folks who have always had to struggle for what they get,. I can tell you this, I would spit in their face before I would use their card again/. Diner's Club seemed to like me and they are as every bit as good if not better than AE! 1285e6d
