I recieved a letter letting me know that my credit limit was lowered on all my cards to (1000) one thousand dollar limit. I have been a customer for about (15) fifteen years and never ounce late making a payment ever. How dare you judge me on a credit report instead of my record. American express advertizes as a fair and great company but in truth you being american express is just another high or should I say a low class company. Iam so mad that Iam going to write my Senator Congressman and my local paper along with the Boston Globe just letting them know what kind of phony company you are John J DiPerri account ending in 521001 128641d

I now know that thier marketing is deceptive. I am cutting up my gold card and returning it to them along with the scam offer I recieved in which they now say I did not receive. Americans take back your freedom from companies that lie for profit. :x

I, too, have been a credit card holder with American Express for over 30 years. I went to use my card the other day to pay a large bill and the charge was declined. I called customer service to inquire why and was told my account was out for review and they have it blocked until the review ends. No one had the courtesy to call me or send me an e-mail and tell me not to use my card for a few days. Instead, I had egg on my face and was totally embarrassed with my client.

The next day I received an e-mail telling me they were lowering my credit limit by $2200.00. Now, it will appear on my credit report as me being almost maxed out on my card which will lower my credit score with the bureaus.

I called American Express three times yesterday to express my anger with their actions. I have been told that I can appeal their action by sending them backup documents of my assets and my income. I already applied for the card, was granted the credit limit, and am not going to go to the trouble of sending them all of my personal information. I am not applying for a mortgage and I didn't have to do that when I originally got the card.

They are trying to blame all of this on the new regulations on credit cards, but this is American Express and the way they do business. They are definitely NOT a customer oriented company and I could care less if I have one of their credit cards or not.

Or, I can pay them a hugh sum of money to get my credit amount raised $200.00 or even a larger sum of money to get my credit raised to the amount it was originally at and has been for four or five years.

In the process, I was asked how long I had been doing what I do on the job. I thought the customer service person was going to drop the phone when I told her 23 years, and again, when I relayed my income to her and told her that I work both for myself and for others.

They didn't bother to look at my history with them, or my individual circumstances, but jumped to a conclusion when they reviewed my credit report status.

Instead, I will pay off the card when I pay it off (after I pay all of my other cards) and drop them like a hot potato as soon as I can. I don't need to shop at Costco (issuer of the card), I can do all of my business at SAMs and pay lower prices. So two companies will get loose a customer.

There is no longer any status in carrying an American Express Card, many companies will not take their card because it is too expensive to process for businesses, and the minimum payment that they require is way higher than all of my other cards with higher balances.

I agree with you, they are running scared. I pay more than my minimum each month and am on time with my payments each month and have been a "Member" since 1980 with an excellent history with them. And, until five months ago, I was paying the card in full each month.

This doesn't make sense to me. They get a whopping amount for interest each month and are making money off me.

There are plenty of companies out there to whom I can go for business and there is nothing that I get from American Express that is worth the aggravation they have caused me.

Today, I got an e-mail from them to perform a generic survey. They have got to be kidding. This survey is worded in such a way that it will not tell them how angry and unhappy I am with them. :( and :upset

I am actively seeking others to join me in a class action against American Express and their collection practices.

Maybe we can get back some of the $3.39 billion the taxpayers gave them interest free.

ccountry It's not the same! I have been with AMEX for 35 years and have never been late as well.

I have stuck with them through thick and thin and been treated badly when they get themselves in trouble.

I don't give a hoot about credit scores my track record with all my creditors is excellent yet my score keeps going down because (1) They change the rules ~~ I have to check my report, spend my time and get incorrect postings corrected MY TIME no thanks (2) CC companies are in a panic so they use a broad brush and lower credit lines on all customers including excellent ones thus increasing the credit line ratio and ~~~yep lower the credit score even more. It goes on and on. (3) They raise interest rates to near 30% if you are so much pay late once ( The Mob Charges less)

AMEX used to profile you and they don't any longer they are calling good customers before the due date and asking for payment.

That's not right! The credit scores in this country are not well done they are computer generated and don't take into account a lot of things.

If I had a tenant that had paid his rent on time for 15 ,20 , or 35 years and the other tenants were late I would leave the good tenant alone, no matter what.

Amex and the rest are running scared and their tactics will get them in more trouble as more and more people say goodbye.

This is different than any time I can remember. Some people will never pay, those of us that are able will pay them off and forget about it.

Your wrong about the double standard and it's going to cost them

Your complaint is that Amex lowered your credit limit based on your credit report. You received that Amex card based on your credit report 15 years ago but now you don't want them to use the report to maintain the account. That's a double standard.
