American Express would not support credit card members dispute with

I received a weight loss supplement from a company called HealthBuy. I opened 1of3 bottles and started taking the supplement as directed. The product called Green Coffee Bean Extract. After the first day, I began to experience severe headaches. I returned the product immediately being detrimental to my health. The company HB would not refund me the cost of the open bottle stating, "There will be no refunds for any open bottles. I disputed this with Amer. Express. In short, They sided with the merchant. I will never use AMEX again. What credit card do you use?!! AMEX will not support you, or back you up for a true valid dispute.

This sounds like a personal problem. Terms clearly stated they would not refund and opened bottles. Duh.

Jan 13, 2014 American ExpressExecutive Offices200 Vesey St New York City NY 10285USA Dear Sir/Madam: I have been unable to resolve a problem with a former American Express card (**** ****** *****) connected to an account I have with Fidelity Investments X99-047473. The problem is as follows: On October 2013 Fidelity Statement, I found that American Express charged me $1,495.08. I had no idea of the basis of the charge and, after investigation (a series of phone calls with Fidelity and American Express), discovered that nearly three years ago (January 20, 2011) I had a charge for 1072 dollars. When the bill was presented, my account only had $1069 and none of it was deducted. Two months later – in March 2011 - there was already in cash a proper amount beyond the 1072 dollars. I was never notified subsequently and forgot about the charge until I was charged the $1,495.08 in October 2013. Interest and penalties were $423.08. I wish to ask for a refund of the $423.08. You had over two years to notify me of the balance and I nor my brother (co-card holder) received anything. My brother and I live in and receive regular reports from Fidelity. Along with your failure to notify me of the penalties, there has been no follow-up to several phone conversations with your representatives. In particular, on Nov 29 2013, I spoke with a representative Daniel (employee # 59270). He promised to investigate and take action on my problem, but I never heard from him or any other representatives.Then I called and spoke on Jan 6, 2014 again with Amex with a representative Michael (employee #57078). He told me that it was a duty of Fidelity to notify me about the debt. Prof Leonard Saxe who is co-partner with the Fidelity account spoke in November with a representative of Fidelity and he directed him to American Express. I find myself as a ball between the two organizations and therefore demand that American Express settle the matter with Fidelity and find a way to repay me the $423.08 Again, I ask to be repaid the amount of $423.08. If this matter is not satisfactorily resolved until January 31, I will file a claim with the Federal Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. I hope that this step will not be necessary. American Express review in Herkimer, New York: An insulting request after a prepaid charge!!!

I got a call from Amex today saying they need me to submit a tax form called the 4506T in order to conduct a financial review and our credit cards (mine and my husband) will be put on hold. here is the problem, on the december 21st, my husband decided he wanted to buy a rolex at tourneau nyc for 17k. initially we wanted to pay by Citicard (debit) but we couldnt get a hold of citi rep (it's a large amount and citi need us to authorize the charge over the phone) and we have a million things to do that day so we decided to use Amex. now, we never used Amex for over 10k charge so we talked to Amex rep and she said she needed us to prepaid them by citibank...in the same time tourneau got citi on the same line for us so we asked citi to wire the money to Amex. we didnt think fast enough to just have citi taking care of it instead. Amex got the money so the charge went thru ok. 3 days later (today) amex rep asked me and my husband (a licensed lawyer in wall street) to authorize them to see our tax info. to see if we have the ability to pay that kind of charge we made on the 21st...that was the biggest insult to us. we prepaid that 17k to Amex on that same day. citi rep was on the line to assisted us to make sure Amex got the 17k at that time. and they did. we don't see why they need us to provide the support documents to see if we could spend 17k or that kind of charge....again that was paid off even before the card swiped. here comes another insult... she told us that our Amex premier gold card are placed on hold, starting today on Christmas 'eve until we fax them the authorization paper to look thru our tax info and they have to process and look thru to see if they will want us as customers after that basically. if we dont provide them whatever they need in 14 days our cards will be canceled. despite of all the inconveniences. i called them back to cancel both of our cards.

American Express review in Greenville, South Carolina: Cant use it as a debit card.

since it can only be used as a credit card I cant get my money orders with it. so I have 2500 dollars on here but I cant pay my bills or my rent because they do not accept American express. I can only pull 500 off at an atm but that doesn't help because I have bills totaling 1800. this card is a complete waste of time. I have to wait and take 500 off of my card every day for the next 4 days to get my money. 4 days!!!!!! this is a terrible inconvenience. I wasn't told that this was not a debit card!!! what the *** else is it. its not a credit card. useless

In December 2008, my business was ruined by American Express who had extended us unlimited credit, only to withdraw the credit without any reason or warning. I lost everything—my retirement, life savings, my credit rating and my home.

Claiming “unjust enrichment” AmEx then suited me for the unpaid balance.

I have been in court for 5 years trying to represent myself. Finally I have a prominent law firm interested in the case and even a class action suit. I need the stories of others that have been damaged personally or in their business.

purchased 6 cards at $3k each, $18k total, but they couldn't provide an itemized receipt so I called immediately to cancel it. I would then have to go back online to AMEX to buy the cards individually x6. But since I cancelled the 18k previously, they wouldn't allow me anymore purchases because the 18k was still "pending" and wouldn't clear from my account for who knows how long...they couldn't tell me, it could be two weeks! They take your money in a click, but can't return it for days!! I was on the phone with no less than 20 calls, 25-30 reps, from 8a to 5p and still not resolved, nobody could take the ball on this and solve my issue. By far the worst experience of my life. I have 12 employees that use the card for travel, we are all putting the cards to bed, no more AMEX.

SERVE by American Express is the WORST RIP OFF EVER

Customer service is HORRIBLE. You get someone in India, then they can tell you the policies in broken English, no one can help, supervisors are idiots. I have been on hold for over an hour waiting on a supervisor, I returned items to walmart and was issued a credit, of course it has not shown up on the card and the idiots in India have no idea, so I am on infinite hold as is the issue EVERY TIME I call. I signed up because of CHEGG who offered a book buy back on the card. Shame on Chegg for getting consumers involved with these criminals at SERVE.

American Express review in Brooklyn, New York: Unfair charges and a rude supervisor named Keith

I have been a loyal amex customer for over 7 years, I've spent over 100k on my card, I was a few hours late on a payment (perhaps I even tried paying online and there was an issue on their website, I have a vague memory) I got charged 2 months interest on all my transactions, I called up complaining, the rep that picked up the phone was nice but needed help from a supervisor, so she got someone by the name Keith, who showed absolutely no courtesy. When I told him then I want to close my account, he didn't seem to care a bit, so I actually did close my account. I'm still a young man and hope to live many years and unless amex shows some courtesy I will not spend another dime ever on an amex card. I still have discover, visa and mc who btw, all of them have shown courtesy in the past when I paid a few hours or even a day or 2 late.
